Learn before you venture:
Know about what you are going to do and then venture into your money making efforts from home. We will take the case of Internet or affiliate marketing for discussing this further. For sure success you need to possess complete knowledge on what you are doing . To know this, as a beginner, you should not be risking your money. I suggest you to go through sources like wikipedia to get the basics and definitions of internet marketing, work from home, affiliate marketing etc.,

Websites like about.com, howstuffworks.com can explain you the entire model of how internet marketing works. So, before you loose out money somewhere better browse these sites and learn.
You can also visit article websites and search for basic tutorial videos in youtube to know the basics of what you are planning to do.

A single piece of learning that I had from my experience is not to get excited about different HIGH PROMISES given by people in internet. Promises like 10,000$ the next day or a million in a year will all give you a adrenalin rush, all these are possible but not in the smal time frame that they are promosing. Once you have enough knowledge on the basics and how all these works you will be able to analyze things and take wise decisions.

I am not here to say that you can do everything for free in the internet. I am just saying you have to start your internet career with a good program and well recognized program. Not to follow someone who has only huge promises.

In this business you decide your income and its directly proportional to your efforts. When you compare it with other businesses your returns will increase on an exponential scale for the same effort that you use elsewhere.
